This Film festival – VOICES – was conceived by independent and interdisciplinary groups that shared the same vision: to give birth to reflection that all audiences can engage in, from an environmentalist perspective through images and audiovisual media.
Through the VOICES Festival, the creators hope to re-establish and strengthen the relationship that exists between the human species and it’s surroundings, both natural and anthropogenic. This relationship is undeniably linked, and with a changed perspective, it can be mutually beneficial and can reach a point of dignified life with equity, morality, sustainability, and shared responsibility, in turn facilitating the welfare of society and nature alike.
The presence of the human specie in the planet earth has left, unfortunately, a footprint bigger than any other specie. The increase of the population, the concentration in urban areas, the socialization of the costs and the risk of the next stages of the this industrial economy and the privatization of the possible associated benefits as well as the discrimination and the segregation of of millions of people among others are just an example of the environmental realities that has been configuring along the history.
Education is a fundamental motor that can promotes significatives changes in the population and therefore the working team of VOICES together with the sponsors, co-presenters and supporters want to promote the reflection and raise awareness through audiovisual media and academic activities. It will encourage the observation of alternative of development(s) that can allow the address of specific environmental and social issues at a specific context and taking in account criteria of a sustainable ecology, equality intra and intergenerational, equality of gender, education the respect and others.
Easier the access to different heterogeneous publics from different municipalities of Colombia to audiovisual media works that touch environmental and social issues.
As we show different environmental realities around the world we want to explore the possibility of developing en accordance to the local environmental and social surroundings.
